FRIENDS OF MUSTARD SEED COMMUNITIES

CELEBRATE 20 YEARS WITH ANNUAL LUNCHEON

ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2010

Keynote Speaker: H. E. Audrey P. Marks, Ambassador of Jamaica to the USA

Honorees: Geneive Brown Metzger, Consul General of Jamaica in New York, and Gale Stevens Haynes, Provost, Long Island University-Brooklyn & Westchester Campuses

New York, NY (August 27, 2010) C Friends of Mustard Seed Communities is celebrating 20 years of charity work with its annual luncheon to benefit the Mustard Seed Communities, scheduled to take place at the New York Hilton and Towers, 1335 Avenue of the Americas, NYC, on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at 12:30pm.  Tickets are priced at $125.00 each and are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

This year’s event will honor two ladies: Geneive Brown Metzger, Consul General of Jamaica in New York – for her assistance to Mustard Seed Communities and Gale Stevens Haynes, Provost of Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus and Westchester Graduate Campus – for her efforts in education.

Ambassador of Jamaica to the USA, H. E. Audrey P. Marks will be the Keynote Speaker this year.  Ms. Marks is Jamaica’s first woman Ambassador to the USA, and presented her credentials in late June 2010.

As always, it wouldn’t be a Friends of Mustard Seed Communities event if it didn’t feature the fashion collections of leading New York designers, this year entitled “Guilty Pleasures” presented by Walter Greene, well-known fashion reporter and journalist.

Luncheon attendees will be serenaded by Dem 3 Jamaican Tenors – David Reid, Cecil Cooper and Steve Higgins – three generations of remarkable singers with a repertoire of Jamaican folk songs, love songs, opera favorites, Broadway tunes, and jazz standards.

The Friends of Mustard Seed Raffle drawing will be conducted at the luncheon.  This year’s grand prize is a three night stay for two at Grand Pineapple Beach Resort in Negril, Jamaica with airfare on Air Jamaica.   Contribution for raffle tickets: $5.00 each, $25.00 for a book of six tickets.

Proceeds from the 20th Annual Friends of Mustard Seed Communities Luncheon go to benefit orphans, children with special needs, families with HIV/AIDS, battered women and other vulnerable persons.
