NEW YORK, NY (April 30, 2010) – On Sunday, May 2 at 4:00 pm, the fourth concert of the 2010 MEEE (Music for Entertainment, Education, and Enlightenment) Jazz Concert Series will feature Bertha Hope, pianist, composer, arranger and vocalist, who has committed her musical talents to promoting the brilliant compositions of her late husband, composer Elmo Hope.  In collaboration with her late second husband, bassist Walter Booker, Ms. Hope formed the band called “Elmollenium” to play these compositions.  In another configuration of talented musicians, Ms. Hope, with her band “Off-Spring!” reveals her third generation performing the works of her daughter, singer/songwriter Monica Hope in addition to other jazz and contemporary original compositions.  Ms. Hope performs regularly throughout the Tri-State area.  The band features Kim Clarke on bass, Lucianna Padmore on drums and Monica Hope on vocals.  This will be an exciting performance not to be missed!

This annual series is designed to present seasoned and emerging professional musicians of the Jazz genre in an intimate setting at a low cost for those who may not be able to afford admission at more commercial venues.  An added value to this event is the delicious “family cocktails” which completes MEEE’s mission to stimulate the mind, body and spirit by entertaining, educating and enlightening.

Please call 212-722-8223 for reservations (seating is limited) and ticket (special family and group rates) information.  Suggested donations: $15 at the door, $10.00 in advance and $7.00 for seniors and students with ID.

Manna House Workshops, Inc. is a not-for–profit performing arts center in East Harlem.  Proceeds from ticket sales provide scholarship assistance to students from economically disadvantaged communities of New York City and the surrounding boroughs.
