Nathan Lucas on keyboard accompanied his dad (playing saxaphone) at the opening concert of the MEEE Jazz Concert Series at Manna House Workshops. His grandson lends support by showing up for performance….awesome!

March 7Bill Saxton, Harlem’s own seasoned, sensational saxophonist.  This dynamic instrumentalist has worked with legendary artists such as Clifford Jordan, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Carmen McCrae, Nancy Wilson and a host of others.  Mr. Saxton is the composer of more than thirty compositions and has earned a three star rating in Downbeat and critical acclaim in Bebop and Beyond Magazine. Visit Bill’s Place Harlem’s Little Speakeasy every Friday at 148 West 133rd Street.

April 4 – Andrei Carriere, guitarist, composer and arranger Andrei Carriere has worked and toured with a host of artists that include Arlene Smith’s Chantels, Chuck Jackson, Esther Phillips, Webster Lewis and Marlena Shaw and the Sussex recording artists, Creative Source.  Mr. Carriere can be seen performing throughout the New York City area.

May 2 – Bertha Hope, pianist, composer, arranger and vocalist has committed her musical talents to promoting the brilliant compositions of her late husband, composer Elmo Hope.  Ms. Hope has performed on major Jazz Festivals and concerts and can be seen throughout the Tri-State area.

June 6 – Valerie Capers Quintet, has received rave reviews at festivals nationally and internationally to name a few the Norfolk University Festival in Connecticut and Nantes Festival in France.  Dr. Capers, an accomplished pianist, composer and vocalist received her bachelors and masters degrees from the Juilliard School of Music even though she is visually challenged. She has three honorary doctorates, which are exemplary of her artistry and musicianship.  Her most recent CD entitled “Limited Edition” is receiving rave reviews.  Dr. Capers can be seen performing in the New York City area.
